Tra cinema e televisione, la creatura di Arthur Conan Doyle non è mai stata tanto attuale
L'interessante articolo di Toby Lichtig, pubblicato dal Times Literary Supplement, presenta le ultime novità editoriali:Michael Dirda, ON CONAN DOYLE; Josef Steiff, SHERLOCK HOLMES AND PHILOSOPHY; Kim Newman, PROFESSOR MORIARTY; Anthony Horowitz, THE HOUSE OF SILK; John O’Connell, THE BASKERVILLE LEGACY; Christopher Sandford, HOUDINI AND CONAN DOYLE.
Assieme alla descrizione dei libri, Lichtig affianca una spietata critica del film (Gioco di Ombre, 2011) nei cinema in questi giorni."Sherlock Holmes: A game of shadows, a film considerably worse than anything ever plotted by Professor Moriarty. Guy Ritchie’s latest attempt to capitalize on the Holmes brand once again casts the excitable Robert Downey Jr as a womanizing, street-brawling superhero interpretation of the detective, with Jude Law’s Watson a perfect complement in terms of posturing. The publicity material celebrates this update of the “somewhat dustier” original. Thankfully, the filmmakers have “paid homage to the author by incorporating some of Conan Doyle’s language in the dialogue”. “Don’t be a ponce, Watson”, says Holmes – presumably a nod to another forgotten manuscript. If Conan Doyle really is among us, he will surely be contorted with horror and disgust."
Per dovere di completezza, è il caso di ricordare qui anche la serie BBC Sherlock che è in onda in Italia in questi giorni.
